An account of apprenticeship with a Venezuelan healer
Florinda Donner-Grau recounts her experiences with doña Mercedes, an elderly healer in a remote Venezuelan town associated with spiritualists, sorcerers, and mediums. Framed around a healer’s way of knowledge, the book centers an encounter with traditions of spiritual practice and healing as presented through the author’s account. Its setting places these experiences within a community where multiple forms of esoteric belief and guidance are part of the surrounding context.
