A shared world shaped by its participants’ minds

In this third volume, the Drome offers Cub a way to investigate the hallucinations that trouble him: it is a shared, synesthetic space that reflects the inner thoughts of those connected to it. Sally believes it might help, but the search for “Heaven” also raises the possibility that Cub could try to remake reality—and put himself at risk. The wider premise places this journey in a future where people visit licensed “pump bars” for mood-altering pharmaceutical blends, while Cub’s turn to an unauthorized source complicates the boundary between chosen experience and altered perception. Reality and dream remain central questions.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

Book overview

"Must-Read Manga" - Publishers Weekly

"I will be back for more." - The Comics Journal

THE DROME IS AN EVER-CHANGING WORLD REFLECTING THE INNER THOUGHTS OF EVERYONE CONNECTED TO IT.

Sally loves the Drome and thinks it might be the fix for Cub's persistent hallucinations. A synesthetic trance zone, the Drome creates a virtual, shared world for all participants. Can Cub use it to look inside his own mind and soul to find the path to "Heaven?" Can he harness the power of the Drome to form his own new reality or will he destroy himself trying?

Part three of Keiichi Koike's epic psychedelic voyage.

In the future, any mood you want is just a pump away. People flock to legal "pump bars," where licensed medical professionals, known as bar doctors, prescribe their customers the perfect pharmaceutical blend.

But when the standard dosage isn't enough, our protagonist, Cub, turns to an unauthorized source. The results have to be seen to be believed.

Rendered in a richly-detailed, clear-line style, this psychedelic sci-fi manga tears apart the basic fabric of reality. What is the truth and what is a dream?
