A first competition—and a chance to step forward

In this second volume, Mizuki’s place in the high school marching band is tested through two linked challenges: competing with the band for the first time and deciding whether to audition for a special solo. Her private trumpet lessons with Akira mark a growing confidence, while her wish to show her parents that joining the band was the right risk gives the competition personal stakes. The setup connects musical ambition with belonging, self-belief, and the pressure of making oneself heard.
