General

General biography covers life stories and autobiographical accounts that do not fit within more specialized biographical categories. This area features narratives about individuals from different walks of life, offering perspectives that cross boundaries of profession, geography, or historical period. General works are ideal for readers looking to understand the broader tapestry of human experiences beyond specific genres like historical, literary, or political biographies.

If you are interested in biographies that provide a sweeping view rather than focusing tightly on a single field or discipline, general biography is where to start. To narrow your search, consider your preferences for theme, time period, or whether you want single-life stories or compilations. For more focused exploration, adjacent categories—such as sports, science, or entertainment biographies—might align more closely with specialized interests.
