Based on Jeff's 20-plus years of experience in working with youth and teens as a counselor and prevention specialist, Turn Up The Music offers help for parents on a broad variety of topics. Included are discussions, examples, case studies, ideas, and strategies for everything from bullying and teasing to gangs and violence. There is also a chapter encouraging parents and educators to work together and support one another so that no child is left behind. Parents will learn about different genres of popular music--including rap, rock, pop, metal, rave, techno, mainstream and alternative--who's listening to what, the messages music conveys to youth, and what impact different types of music may have on them.
