A changing castle becomes Celie’s map to safety

Castle Glower is more than a royal home: it continually adds rooms, turrets, and wings, making its layout an ongoing mystery. Princess Celie is the one person who carefully maps these changes. When the king and queen are ambushed and their fate is uncertain, that private knowledge becomes central to defending the castle and the kingdom. The adventure brings together an inventive setting, a young protagonist’s close attention to her surroundings, and a threat to the royal family, all within a story for younger readers.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Children ages 9–12 interested in fantasy adventures
  • Readers who enjoy castles, puzzles, and changing settings
  • Young readers looking for a story about a princess protecting her home and kingdom

Book overview

See where it all began with the start to Jessica Day George's bestselling series about a castle that can rebuild itself and the children who defend it.

Tuesdays at Castle Glower are Princess Celie's favorite days. That's because on Tuesdays the Castle adds a new room, a turret, or sometimes even an entire wing. No one ever knows what the Castle will do next, and no one-other than Celie, that is-takes the time to map out the new additions.

But when King and Queen Glower are ambushed and their fate is unknown, it's up to Celie, with her secret knowledge of the castle's never-ending twists and turns, to protect their home and save their kingdom.
