Poems and surprises for the Advent countdown

A poem for each day of Advent gives this book its calendar-like structure, pairing a daily reading with a flap to lift. The poems include work by Ogden Nash, Nikki Giovanni, John Agard, and Christina Rossetti. Hidden details—such as a family wrapping presents, a mouse behind holly, and activity around a Christmas tree—make the pages a seasonal search as well as a poetry collection. A fold-out accordion opens onto a snowy landscape, extending the book into a display. Sturdy flaps, foil accents, and a ribbon-tie closure are part of its gift-book design.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Families seeking a shared Christmas countdown activity for children ages 4–8.
  • Young children who enjoy lifting flaps and spotting hidden details.
  • Adults looking to introduce children to Christmas poems by a range of poets.
