Tao Ji's hair was often long and scraggly, his robes were patched and worn, and he
was not a vegetarian like most monks. He was often found at a local bar eating and
drinking to excess. In fact, his power often came from indulging himself in ways ana
ordinary Buddhist monk would find utterly abhorrent. In fact, most of the monks
who knew him did not understand Tao Ji's behavior, and had no respect for him.
Today we might refer to him as a "hippie" monk.

Tao Ji was the living embodiment of the principle of a state of nothingness which at
the same time has a tangible existence. Tao Ji could teleport himself or someone
else across time and space. He had the powers of telekinesis and mind control,
which he used to aid people in need.
