One mountain community never imagined that something so catastrophic could ever happen to them. But unfortunately....it did. On one typical day, while the people of Maple Springs, North Carolina went about their normal lives, an event happened that would change everything. Blizzard conditions from a snowstorm caused a struggle to survive. Saving lives was in the hands of only a few heroes. The mountains decided to destroy its land with rushing snow, ice, and rocks. One area on the 'Blue Ridge Parkway' in Stone County, North Carolina, was caught in a nightmare due to the shocking historic avalanches. A federal parkway chairlift operation would be the greatest challenge for survival. The fate of 'The Appalachian Plane' and others, would be determined on that horrifying day.
