Snow White, reimagined in Japan

Chloe Perkins’s board-book adaptation places the familiar Snow White fairy tale against a Japanese backdrop. The story retains recognizable elements—including the princess, her stepmother, seven dwarves, and a shiny red apple—while presenting them in a new cultural setting. Japanese illustrator Misa Saburi provides the artwork. As the opening title in the Once Upon a World series, the book introduces a multicultural approach to well-known fairy tales, recasting a classic story for a very young audience.
