A manga bookseller’s view from behind the counter
Honda draws on experience selling comics in a Japanese bookstore, turning the work’s everyday complications into the material for a comic account. The description points to a range of shop-floor subjects: handling different genres, responding to foreign customers’ requests, and navigating the quirks of multiple publishers. This complete omnibus gathers that bookstore-focused material, including the unlikely path from writing about the job to becoming a full-time artist. Its subject sits at the intersection of manga retail and the making of a comic about the business behind the books.
