A family journey amid a crisis

Shane’s coma sets two strands in motion: the violence that leaves him unconscious in Saskatchewan, and Dr. Randal Reilly’s journey from British Columbia to India to inform his niece. As the first wave of COVID-19 disrupts travel and commercial flights are cancelled, Randal and the Reilly family face practical and personal complications far from home. The novel brings family dynamics, love and reconciliation together with the difficulties of navigating unfamiliar language and customs during an unfolding emergency.
