A wedding trip turns into a new mystery

The second Madison Steele mystery takes Maddie, Kris, and Sheryl to Vancouver Island for a week at Smuggler’s Inn and a cousin’s wedding. The inn’s stories of a pirate ancestor and a missing treasure catch Maddie’s attention despite her promise to leave detective work alone. A ghost, a mysterious cave, and a suspicious rockslide bring the friends into the investigation, which now threatens to disrupt the wedding. The setup combines a holiday stay and family celebration with a treasure-centered puzzle, keeping the mystery closely tied to the inn and its local lore.
