A familiar fairy tale with a Russian setting

Chloe Perkins’s board-book version keeps the familiar princess-and-pea tale while placing it against a Russian backdrop. Dinara Mirtalipova’s illustrations draw on Russian folklore, making the setting part of how this retelling presents a well-known story. As the fourth book in the Once Upon a World series, it offers a culturally situated version of a fairy tale that also stands on its own.
