Counting with animal families

Jane Cabrera reworks the traditional song “Over in the Meadow” as a counting book built around animal mothers and babies. The families vary in size, giving young children groups to count as the song unfolds. Several spreads gather the animals into clear, countable groupings, linking the familiar rhyme with early number practice. The book’s focus on singing, counting, and shared animal scenes supports reading together at home or in story-hour settings.

Good fit for readers who enjoy
