Counting, animal helpers, and playful sounds

A duck stuck in the muck sets up a counting rhyme in which groups of animals arrive to help. The sequence links numbers with each animal’s entrance, while sound-rich phrases—such as splishing, plunking, and swishing—give the counting a physical, listen-along quality. In board-book format, the book brings together early number concepts, animal names, and repeated opportunities to join in.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Babies and toddlers beginning to hear and recognize numbers
  • Young listeners who enjoy animal characters and sound-play
  • Caregivers looking for a board book to share aloud
