How do we classify disease?
Lawrie Reznek examines the concepts behind classifying bodily conditions as diseases. The book considers whether disease status is discovered in the body or shaped by the categories people create, and whether calling a condition a disease carries implicit value judgements. First published in 1987, it offers a focused inquiry into the meaning and classification of disease, rather than a guide to diagnosing or treating particular conditions.
