A classroom project brings new connections

As Eva’s class prepares for a Nature Day party, two clubs take on the challenge of finding ways to help the planet. Eva is separated from her friends Lucy and Hailey, and the change opens space for her to get to know other classmates—including someone who is missing a friend, too. The nature-focused assignment and the shifting friendships give this chapter-book installment its central threads. Speech bubbles and illustrations accompany the story, which is part of the Owl Diaries series and Scholastic’s Branches line for newly independent readers.
