An identity beyond categories

Through a narrator who is both blue and green, *Mostly Me* explores the experience of being mixed race or feeling “in-between.” Its rhyming picture-book journey connects the pressure to choose one category with questions of identity and belonging, set against a world of varied shapes, colors, and sizes. The narrator’s answer—“I’m mostly me”—frames self-understanding as something that need not fit a single label.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Children ages 4–8 encountering questions about identity or belonging
  • Families and educators seeking a picture book about mixed-race and multiracial experiences
  • Readers interested in rhyming picture books about individuality

A colorful character explores the joys and challenges of being both blue and green in this affirming and thoughtful story about being mixed race or simply "in-between".

This uplifting rhyming picture book follows a blue-green narrator on a journey of self-discovery. In a world where everyone comes in different shapes, colors, and sizes, this character is often asked to fit into one color or choose between two.
