Norse myths gathered across generations

Gods, giants, monsters, heroes and villains populate this collection of Norse mythology stories, accompanied by colour and line-work illustrations. The book also looks back at Macmillan’s publishing history, with an illustrated account of the authors and artists behind its original story collections, first published in the 1800s and early 1900s. The combination of myths and publishing history gives the volume two points of entry: the traditional stories themselves and the legacy of their earlier collections. It is presented as a companion to The Macmillan Fairy Tales Collection and The Macmillan Collection of Greek Myths.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Children and families exploring Norse mythology through collected stories and illustrations
  • Readers interested in the history of Macmillan’s early story collections
  • Collectors of companion mythology and fairy-tale volumes
