AlbakiReads Editorial

A neighborhood crocodile finds an unlikely challenge

Set in a New York City home, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile brings an unusually helpful crocodile into the daily life of the Primm family and their neighbors. Lyle joins in with chores and neighborhood play, but his efforts to win over Mr. Grumps and his cat Loretta keep going awry. The story pairs comic domestic mishaps with questions of acceptance, friendship, and courage. This edition is gently abridged for younger children, with the author’s artwork lightly colorized, making it a compact version of Bernard Waber’s familiar crocodile tale.

"America's favorite reptile." --Booklist

This classic is now available in a board book! Perfect for little hands and bright minds.

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile lives with the Primm family in the house on East 88th Street in New York City. Lyle enjoys helping with chores, playing with the neighborhood kids, and entertaining them with headstands and backflips. He's the happiest crocodile any family ever had . . . until one neighbor insists that Lyle belongs in a zoo! Mr. Grumps and his cat, Loretta, don't like crocodiles, and everything Lyle does to win them over seems to go wrong. It will take all of Lyle's charm--and courage--to reveal the hero, and friend, behind the big, crocodile smile.

The classic storybook has been gently abridged and the joyful, endearing artwork lightly colorized in the author's style in this edition for the youngest child.
