A clash of sorcerers across spirit worlds

Ira Hill’s story brings together two sharply different upbringings: an eighteen-year-old from a Bellingham trailer park and Kivati, raised on a sky island by a family that sees him as a god reincarnate. After the spirits transfer Kivati’s power to Ira, their conflict expands into a journey through the coastal Northwest, other dimensions, and spirit bodies. The premise combines young-adult family themes with sorcery, thunderbirds, and a widening confrontation with forces beyond the two rivals. The book’s alternative-family subject is paired with a fantasy landscape where power and identity are closely linked.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Teens and young adults interested in fantasy centered on sorcerers and spirits.
  • Readers drawn to stories featuring family circumstances outside conventional household structures.
  • Readers interested in rivalries that extend across multiple worlds and supernatural settings.

Book overview

Eighteen-year-old Ira Hill grew up in a trailer park in Bellingham, Washington with a drunk single father. Kivati grew up on an island in the sky with a family who believed he was a god reincarnate.

When the spirits revoke Kivati's power and give it to Ira, Kivati vows to kill the young sorcerer and all others like him. A paranoid Ira gathers a group of worthy sorcerers to face Kivati as Kivati raises thunderbirds from eggs.

Journeying through the coastal northwest, other dimensions, and multiple spirit bodies, they learn of darker villains and greater powers looming than those they sought in each other.
