A new story for a worried mind

Elba’s worries sometimes keep her awake, while Norris suggests they may grow from the story she tells herself. Together, they imagine a different one—and find themselves on an unexpected adventure. The book connects the everyday experience of worry with the way stories can shift, while bringing friendship into the picture as a source of steadiness. Its central idea is captured in the title: meeting life one day at a time, even when events take an unforeseen turn.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Children ages 4–8 encountering worries or big feelings

Book overview

For everyone who worries, or loves someone who worries, this charming story offers wisdom, comfort, and gentle humor. Perfect for fans of The Rabbit Listened, Ruby Finds a Worry, and George and Martha.

Elba worries a lot. Sometimes her worries keep her up at night.

Norris knows that worry can come from telling yourself the wrong story.

Together, he and Elba tell a new story, one without any worry. But what will happen when their story launches them on an unforeseen adventure?

This gentle exploration of a universal feeling reveals that, while stories can take unexpected turns, we have the power to create our own happy endings, and good friends can help us stay grounded in whatever comes today.
