A moonlit invitation to dream
Built around a series of “if” images—moon, Earth, music, drifting and streams—the book connects the familiar world with the imaginative space of bedtime. Its brief, verse-like description and picture-book format frame sleep as a threshold children can approach through words and images. The moon and nighttime imagery give the book a clear bedtime setting, while the recurring conditional phrasing leaves room for the mind to wander.

From award-winning creators Matthew Burgess and Matthew Forsythe comes a new picture book classic and an invitation to imaginative dreaming. If the Moon is the perfect lyrical bedtime book--a visual poem that soothes and smooths the transition from waking to sleeping.
If the Earth and if the moon,
if the whistling of a tune.
If you drift, if you dream,
into space, into streams...
Softly step on tender feet,
come and lift the latch of sleep.
