A rescue journey across a divided world

After Will and Evanlyn are taken captive aboard a ship bound for Skandia, the story follows two connected journeys: Will’s passage as a prisoner and Halt’s effort to reach him, accompanied by Horace. Halt’s vow puts him at odds with his king, while Horace’s combat ability draws attention along the road. The parallel routes give the adventure a clear focus on loyalty, captivity, and the risks involved in keeping a promise. As the third book in the Rangers series, it continues the conflict introduced in the description while placing its characters in new challenges on land and at sea.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • For readers of juvenile fantasy adventures involving quests and rescue missions.
  • For readers interested in friendship, loyalty, and characters facing conflict across multiple journeys.

Book overview

The international bestselling series with over 5 million copies sold in the U.S. alone!

Kidnapped after the fierce battle with Lord Morgarath, Will and Evanlyn are bound for Skandia as captives aboard a fearsome wolfship. Halt has sworn to rescue Will, and he will do anything to keep his promise-even defy his King.

Expelled from the Rangers he has served so loyally, Halt is joined by Will's friend Horace as he travels toward Skandia. On their way, they are challenged constantly by freelance knights-but Horace knows a thing or two about combat. Soon he begins to attract the attention of knights and warlords for miles around with his uncanny skill. Even so, will they be in time to rescue Will from a horrific life of slavery?

The smash hit series continues with another heart stopping adventure.

Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, T.H. White's The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini's Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fireseries.
