AlbakiReads Editorial

A little feline make-believe

Paw-licking, pouncing, bouncing and curling up in a sunny patch turn everyday play into a chance to pretend to be a cat. Sam Voulters’ rhyming text accompanies two children and their pet in this board book about imaginative play, with expressive, hand-painted illustrations by Yoshiko Hada. The simple cat-like actions give the book a natural shape for sharing aloud and joining in together. Its focus stays close to the playful pleasures of copying a familiar pet, making the idea easy for very young children to act out as they listen.
