Nepal through local perspectives

Greater Than a Tourist—Nepal pairs destination-focused advice attributed to someone who has lived in Nepal with practical prompts for planning a trip. The guide includes a packing and planning list, questions to consider or ask while traveling, and space to record a travel bucket list. Its approach encourages spending more time in one place and getting to know local people and culture, rather than relying only on addresses and opening hours. The emphasis is on preparing for travel while leaving room for conversations and personal discoveries along the way.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Travelers preparing for a trip to Nepal who want locally informed tips.
  • Planners who appreciate checklists and reflection prompts alongside destination advice.
  • Travelers interested in spending time with local people and learning about culture.

OUR STORY

Traveling is a passion of the Greater than a Tourist book series creator. Lisa studied abroad in college, and for their honeymoon Lisa and her husband toured Europe. During her travels to Malta, an older man tried to give her some advice based on his own experience living on the island since he was a young boy. She was not sure if she should talk to the stranger but was interested in his advice. When traveling to some places she was wary to talk to locals because she was afraid that they weren't being genuine. Through her travels, Lisa learned how much locals had to share with tourists. Lisa created the Greater Than a Tourist book series to help connect people with locals. A topic that locals are very passionate about sharing.
