A collision between two worlds

Jack Derwood’s school conflict gives way to a science-fiction premise in which he appears to be living in two places at once: a hospital in Peabody, Wisconsin, and a strange world shaped by the mysterious idea of Tanyen. The story connects its alternate-world adventure to Christian religious themes, placing questions of belief and commitment alongside danger in both settings. Jack’s choice to stop running and confront what pursues him provides the narrative’s central thread.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Teens and young adults interested in science fiction with Christian religious themes.
  • Readers who enjoy stories involving alternate worlds and questions about belief.
  • Those looking for a young adult adventure that brings school conflict together with speculative elements.
