Religious traditions of the mountain South

Foxfire 7 turns to the religious heritage of Appalachia, documenting practices and gatherings that include ministries, revivals, baptisms, gospel singing, faith healing, camp meetings, and snake handling. The volume extends the Foxfire project’s attention to regional traditions and practical knowledge, here centered on forms of worship and community life. Its subject matter offers a record of varied religious customs rather than a general introduction to religion.
