Ferdinand in Ancient Greek

Munro Leaf’s story of Ferdinand is presented here entirely in Ancient Greek, not alongside an English translation. The source text retains the tale’s contrast between the other bulls’ activity and Ferdinand’s preference for sitting among the flowers, while placing its bullfighting context into classical-language form. This edition’s defining feature is its language: it offers the familiar story as a text for reading in Ancient Greek, rather than as a bilingual teaching aid.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Students of Ancient Greek seeking a narrative text for reading practice
  • Classical-language enthusiasts interested in a modern story rendered in Ancient Greek
  • Readers already familiar with Ferdinand who want to encounter the story in another language
