A double on the screen
A video rental turns into an unsettling puzzle when Tertuliano Máximo Afonso, a divorced history teacher, sees an actor who looks exactly as he did five years earlier. His search for the man behind the image shifts the story from an odd coincidence toward questions of identity, individuality, and the gap between appearance and reality. The film-within-the-story gives those questions a concrete starting point, while Tertuliano’s decision to pursue his double drives the central mystery.
Good fit for readers who enjoy
- For readers interested in fiction about identity and individuality.
- For readers drawn to a mystery built around an uncanny resemblance.
