Book overview
What I learned at Whittier was something much simpler.
Schools change when people change.
Leadership begins with relationships.
Culture changes one conversation at a time.
And children flourish when the adults around them choose to believe in them before they believe in themselves.
The recognition Whittier eventually received mattered.
But it was never the destination.
It was the evidence of something far more important that had already taken root.
The foundation had been built.
The story of that foundation begins on the pages that follow.
And like many of the most important journeys in education...
it began with something wonderfully unexpected.
