When words step off the page

Dictionary longs to tell a story, so she sets her words loose across her pages. Their adventure soon turns into a jumble, and Alphabet helps restore order with a song. The book turns the alphabet and the idea of a dictionary into story elements, linking word play with a small conflict about what happens when everything gets out of order. Its picture-book premise gives young readers a story-shaped way to encounter words and letters.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Children ages 4–8 exploring letters, words, and alphabet concepts
  • Young readers who enjoy imaginative picture-book premises
