Book overview
Chen refused to spend her life as a maid. So she became a pirate instead.
Now captain of her own ship, Chen has her sights set on the greatest treasure of her career-but she'll have to go undercover as a mere cook to claim it. Aboard a rival vessel, she discovers she's not the only one hiding in plain sight. Andy, a young sailor with secrets of her own, has lived her entire life disguised as a boy-a deception born from her father's shame and society's cruelty toward illegitimate daughters.
As the hunt for treasure leads them through treacherous waters prowled by sea serpents and touched by ancient magic, Chen and Andy must navigate more than mythical beasts. In a world that demands women make themselves small, they've chosen to take up cutlasses instead. But freedom always comes at a price, and the greatest treasure may not be gold at all.
A swashbuckling reimagining of Treasure Island that asks: what if the adventure belonged to the women all along? Filled with action, adventure, magic, and mayhem.
