Two eras, five missing babies, and a question of upbringing

Set in 1885 and twenty-five years later, the novel links the kidnapping of five babies to an experiment in nature versus nurture. When the grown children return to their biological parents, one parent’s daughter has lost her memory. Journalist Alejandro is hired to investigate, bringing the story’s two timelines together around identity, family, and the consequences of shaping a child’s upbringing. The dual-perspective structure makes the experiment’s premise central to the mystery.
