Power and revenge in the Umbrage

After their father’s failed coup strips them of their titles and assets, Vane and the Madd brothers rebuild their standing in the Umbrage, the Darkland’s criminal underworld. Years later, Vane and Roc rule there through ruthless force. The description sets their rise to power against a personal rupture: when both brothers are left heartbroken, revenge becomes their chosen response. This dark-fantasy origin story brings together fallen privilege, underworld rule, and the collision between monstrous power and wounded hearts. The publisher notes that content warnings are available on the author’s website.

Book overview

Vane and the Crocodile AKA the Madd Brothers, have been stripped of their titles and their assets after their father's failed coup of the Darkland Court. Immortal, powerful and monstrous, it doesn't take them long to make their way back up the ladder, but this time it's not in the manors and mansions of the Darkland elite, it's the dark underbelly known as the Umbrage.

Years later, they now rule the Umbrage and they are ruthless, destroying anyone who gets in their way. But even monsters have hearts, and when Roc and Vane find theirs broken, there's only one choice: get revenge.
