Counting Through California

California provides the objects to count in this board-book introduction to numbers. Grizzlies, avocados, surfboards, and Walk of Fame stars bring together wildlife, food, recreation, and landmarks under a single state theme. Nicole LaRue’s illustrations give young children recognizable images to point to as they practice counting, while the California setting offers another way to talk about what they see. The concept is simple: numbers and place-based symbols share each page’s learning opportunity.
