A new school year in many colors

Lester the Blue Butterfly begins school eager to meet classmates whose colors include yellow, orange, red, pink, and gray. When his mother says he should play only with blue butterflies, the story turns that conflict into a child-centered exploration of taking a stand. Biodiversity, cultural diversity, and kindness connect the school-year premise, while the cast of differently colored butterflies gives those ideas a concrete place in the story. Muhammad Asadullah is credited as illustrator.
