A dangerous return to the forbidden forest

The forest at the heart of Premee Mohamed’s dark fantasy novella is both a place of powerful magic and a test of survival. Veris Thorn, its sole known survivor, is sent back to find the children of the foreign tyrant who rules the surrounding land. The search is bounded by a single day, with traps, ancient monsters, and hauntings among the dangers described. The setup brings a fairy-tale framework into contact with political rule and a sharply defined deadline, keeping the forest’s threats central to the story.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • For readers of dark fantasy and otherworldly fairy tales.
  • For readers interested in perilous forest settings, magical dangers, and a time-limited search.
