Bruce’s beach-day dilemma

A summer outing in Soggy Hollow is less appealing to Bruce than a cool patch of shade. Sand, heat, and wind all get in the way of his preferred summer activity: doing nothing—and he likes fall even better. The beach-day setup gives this Little Bruce Book a simple seasonal contrast between the cheerful bustle around him and Bruce’s wish to stay comfortable. As a bite-sized entry in the series, it centers on a familiar comic mismatch between a group’s plans and one bear’s very different idea of a good day.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • A concise picture-book read for children ages 4–8.
  • For young fans of bear characters and seasonal stories.
  • For families looking for a light summer-themed read-aloud.

Book overview

#1 New York Times best-selling author Ryan T. Higgins celebrates the delights of summer in this bite-sized Little Bruce Book perfect for fans of Mother Bruce.

It's beach day in Soggy Hollow! Everyone is enjoying fun in the sun - everyone, that is, except for Bruce. It's too hot, too sandy, and too windy! Bruce's favorite thing about summer? Doing nothing. In the shade. Where it's cool. Bruce's second favorite thing about summer? When it turns to fall.
