A faith-centered introduction to chaplaincy

Patricia Wileman’s guide introduces 14 kinds of chaplaincy and considers the responsibilities that can accompany the role. Its practical concerns include prayer, spiritual leadership, listening, offering encouragement in a crisis, and recognizing when someone should be referred to a licensed counselor. The book presents chaplaincy as Christian service, with biblical guidance shaping how a chaplain supports others. It also addresses the strain the work can bring, including the need to seek help when overstressed, and discusses training and the reasons for choosing a particular chaplaincy path.
