A crush outside the plan

As the Cupcake Club’s organized business lead, Alexis is used to turning problems into lists, research, and goals. A crush on Matt Taylor—her best friend Emma’s brother—puts that method to the test, giving this graphic novel adaptation a clear contrast between Alexis’s orderly habits and the uncertainty of a new feeling. The story brings together friendship, first-crush complications, and the club’s cupcake-business context, with the plot framed around Alexis’s search for a “recipe” for love. Its graphic-panel format makes the series’ fourth story available as a visual adaptation.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • For readers ages 9–12 who enjoy graphic novels.

Book overview

The bestselling Cupcake Diaries series is now available in graphic novel format! In this adaptation of the fourth book, Alexis struggles to fit the messiness of a crush in with her orderly lifestyle.

Alexis Becker is by far the most prepared, exact, and organized Cupcake Club member, which is why she's in charge of the business end of the club. But when she suddenly develops a major crush on Matt Taylor--her BFF Emma's brother--things get a little disorganized. Alexis decides to figure her way around this strange new feeling the way she figures out everything else: by conducting research, collecting data, and setting a goal. Is there a perfect recipe for love? Alexis is ready to find out!

Fun, bright, full-color graphic panels tell the story with the same humor and heart as the original novel.
