A final case shaped by a difficult past

In this concluding installment of a YA paranormal series, Alex investigates the murder of Kyle Branders, a teen who had long belittled and attacked him for his differences. Alex’s decision to help Kyle’s soul turns the case into a search that also uncovers the reason behind Kyle’s hostility. The mystery is closely tied to their troubled history, bringing questions of harm, understanding, and release into the investigation. The description identifies Alex as transgender-related YA fiction through its subject classification, while the plot centers on a mysterious death and a secret connecting the two teens.
