Poetry at the edge of inner and outer worlds

Kripi Malviya’s chapbook frames its poems through two meanings folded into its title: *aletheia*, associated with disclosure and truth, and Theia, a hypothesized early planetary body linked to theories of the Moon’s formation. These references point toward the book’s stated preoccupations with searching, existential philosophy and psychotherapy. Its subject is the intimate terrain of encounters—their geography, anatomy and vulnerability—alongside the poet’s account of how such inquiries shape her writing. The collection brings inward reflection into conversation with ideas about the wider world, making the title itself a guide to its central concerns.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Readers interested in poetry shaped by existential philosophy and psychotherapy.
  • Readers drawn to introspective writing about personal encounters and vulnerability.
  • Readers curious about poetry that connects inner inquiry with scientific or cosmological ideas.

Book overview

"aletheia" is an ancient Greek word meaning unconcealed, unclosedness, disclosure or truth; reflections of the striving created through the poet's allegiance to existential philosophy and psychotherapy. "theia" is a hypothesized ancient planetary-mass object in the early solar system, and it is believed that the moon was formed by a violent, head-on collision between the early Earth and a "planetary embryo" (theia) approximately one hundred million years after the Earth formed. The title of the chapbook wanted to portray the author's preoccupations and yearnings that are rooted in beliefs and searches of wildly unique worlds, both within and without, ultimately shedding light on her poetry writing process. "ale(theia)" is a dedication to the intimate unraveling of the geography, anatomy and vulnerability of the encounters in the author's life.
