A teenager’s life, recorded in notebooks
Julian Drew’s notebooks give shape to a home life marked by abuse and to his effort to survive and recover. The source describes his first notebook in precise, everyday details—its green spiral, page count, and lines—before noting that he develops a secret code. Writing becomes a way to record what he is facing, making the notebooks central to the book’s focus on family abuse, survival, and recovery.
