Agnostic & Atheist

Agnostic & Atheist young adult fiction centers on characters who question, reject, or explore life without adherence to specific religious beliefs. In contrast to mainstream religious fiction, these works focus on navigating ethical choices, personal meaning, and identity outside of traditional faith structures—often exploring the challenges and discoveries unique to adolescence.

Within the wider Religious fiction category, this subject stands apart by spotlighting stories where doubt, skepticism, or secular perspectives shape the narrative. Readers looking to compare topics can move between Agnostic & Atheist and other belief-centered subgenres to see how different worldviews influence young adult characters' journeys and conflicts.
