The Oakland County child-killer investigation
Tommy McIntyre’s account centers on the search that followed the murders of four children in Oakland County, Michigan, during 1976 and 1977. The thirteen-month span of the crimes prompted what the description identifies as the largest murder investigation in the state’s history. The book traces that investigation through its dead ends and disappointments, setting the search itself against the grief and tragedy surrounding the case. Its subject is the pursuit of an unidentified child killer, not simply the crimes that initiated the inquiry.
