A visual archive of Audra Jayne’s kawaii and rave-inspired world

Audra Jayne’s hardcover gathers illustrations, fashion imagery, and modeling into a coffee-table survey of a distinctly colorful personal aesthetic. The material connects her collaborative art practice with work made for clothing brands, video games, and rave flyers, while also documenting looks associated with rave, Harajuku, cosplay, and alternative fashion spaces. Plush toys, desserts, and frogs recur among the visual elements named in the book’s description, giving the collection a playful set of motifs. Alongside the images, the volume situates Jayne’s work within a creative life shaped by self-made art, public performance, and genderqueer identity.

Book overview

Growing up in Kansas, Audra Jayne didn't have much, but could always have a paper and pen, and so started making art to be able to give to friends and make them happy. Audra loves to bring art and loud happy colors to everything. You might recognize Audra as the Doll Life reality TV star or from Twitch, Ficklewish, MFC, and Kawaii International livestreams. Audra is genderqueer and passionate about human rights. Audra's biggest passion is collaborative art. Audra has done illustration for clothing brands, video games, and rave flyers. Audra has modeled unique clothing everywhere from indie designer trunk sales to cosplay convention stages, including such rave and Harajuku-inspired brands as Enchantic Enchantilly, JNCO, hAngry & Angry, galaxxxy, Angelic Pretty, Alice and the Pirates, Newbreed Girl, Mint Neko, and Dolldelight. This coffee table book collects up years of colorful style and illustrations and modeling, including lots of plushes, desserts, and frogs.
