A surreal adventure through myth and mysticism

Leonora Carrington’s first novel brings together ancient Mesopotamia, the Zodiac, the Kabbalah, Transylvania, and the land of the dead. Its puzzle-box structure connects two people and a journey toward the Caucasus, blending adventure with esoteric and mythic elements. The description also identifies a mad Hungarian king as part of this convergence, though the source text ends before offering further detail. The result is a literary novel whose settings and symbolic systems span history, astrology, and the supernatural.
