Illness, resentment and obsession collide in a domestic psychological thriller.

Emma’s neurological condition has left her unable to work and confined to her family’s cramped council house, where she faces constant judgments about her health. Her relationship with Adam offers an apparent alternative: he has the job and home she lacks, but he is also married to Celeste. The novel builds its psychological-suspense premise around Emma’s anger at being dismissed, her position as the other woman, and her decision to make Celeste a target. Chronic illness and unequal domestic circumstances are woven into a story of desire, resentment and escalating fixation.

Good fit for readers who enjoy

  • Readers of domestic psychological suspense
  • Those interested in thrillers that engage with chronic illness and social judgment
